Wounded Finnish Peacekeepers Association
Wounded Finnish Peacekeepers Association (VKV ry) is an organization for Finnish military and civilian peacekeepers and crisis management veterans who have been disabled in service. The association also provides expertise on experiences of the wounded veterans both to existing and potential members and governmental decision makers. VKV ry works in close cooperation with the Finnish Peacekeepers Association (SRTL) and other veterans’ organizations but is an independent actor.
VKV ry was founded in 2013 on a need-basis firstly to promote the issues and difficulties of veterans who were disabled in service and secondly to act as a peer support platform, especially for those disabled in service who are excluded from the support provided by the state.
The association provides rehabilitation and other support to those members who are not covered by state compensation, peer support to all its members and participates as a subject matter expert in the preparation and decision-making of matters concerning the wounded veterans on different levels of society. For example, in 2024, VKV Ry had a meeting with the the National Defense Committee on veteran support and participated in the preparation of the Ministry of Defense’s National Military Crisis Management Veteran Program 2025–2027.
